The Mormon and Freemason link

Freemasonry was accused of ordering the death of one of their members, William Morgan in 1826. That set off a fire storm against Freemasonry especially from within. Several Freemasons were convicted of assisting in his abduction but the actual killer was never identified and brought to justice. I am sure his death was ordered by the highest Masonic authority for writing Freemason secrets. Yes, I believe an organization that supposedly believed in God and personal liberty put secrecy above one of the Commandments! “Thou shall not kill”. I believe the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) had presided over Morgan’s trail “in absentia”, convicted him and ordered his death. Most New York State Blue Lodge Freemasons quit the craft in protest. One Holy Royal Arch Mason of the York Rite that probably quit was the Mormon prophet Joseph Smith’s father. In 1830 Joseph Smith, Jr. published the Book of Mormon, a Freemason book. Was this document the William Morgan expose about Masonry? Masonry tried to stop Joseph Smith, Jr. but was restricted by Masonic rules. The Mormon prophet was the son of a Mason; he had not sworn an oath to Masonry and was not bound to their laws. I believe Masonry did everything they could to threaten and suppress the book and the Mormon religion using mobs, half-truths and lies. Freemasonry was very mad because the prophet was using one of their books about a Masonic hero Julius Caesar and much of their sacred rituals in his new religion. Did Joseph Smith, Jr. know William Morgan? They lived within miles of each other and William Morgan was abducted in Canandaigua, New York by Joseph Smith, Sr.’s Masonic organization. The Mormon prophet (Joseph Smith, Jr.) married Lucinda Morgan Harris, William Morgan’s widow. When Smith became a Freemason on March 15, 1842, he signed his own death sentence. Joseph and his brother were murdered by a mob of 200 men while confined to the Carthage Illinois jail on June 27, 1844. Five men were indicted and brought to trial for the double murders. One was a long time Mason and three were made Masons while awaiting trial. Freemasonry with their lofty ideals made three men, accused of double murders, Masons? No one was ever convicted of these murders. Mormons, realizing the futility of their trusting in America’s judicial system, fled the United States for Utah starting in 1847. In 1848 the US gains control of the Mormon country called Deseret from Mexico. In 1857 during the Utah War, 120 members of a wagon train are killed in the Mountain Meadows massacre in southern Utah. Mormons spared 17 children younger than seven years old.
Their new leader Brigham Young had been a Freemason. Sometime after settling in the Salt Lake valley Brigham Young petitioned the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) to allow Mormonism as an independent Rite within Freemasonry. That request was disapproved. He declared a ban of silence on the Masonic ties with Mormonism. He condemned the local Freemasons for the attack, branding them the agents of Satan. He decreed that any Mormon who refused to abandon Masonry, or chose to become a Mason, was subject to summary excommunication from the Mormon Church. That rule still exists.

Even though Mormons could not become Freemasons, leadership of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints was given exclusively to one time Freemasons until 1901. The first five LDS prophets/presidents were Freemasons. After that date, the church leadership was inherited by two of Joseph Smith, Jr.’s relatives. However, in my opinion, how they pick their leaders is their business.

Is Julius Caesar mentioned in the Book of Mormon?

Julius Caesar is to this day a hero of Freemasonry. If the Masons know why, they are not sharing. This book asserts that the Book of Mormon is a Freemason document. Julius Caesar is the central character of the Book of Mormon. Caesar is in one place called Seezoram. He has many names but his deeds are identical!
I contend there is new and unexplored country in the Book of Mormon. Shakespeare’s words are “that unexplored country from whose border no traveler returns.” The passage from the Book of Mormon in which Lehi uses this is the following:
Awake! and arise from the dust, and hear the words of a trembling parent, whose limbs ye must soon lay down in the cold and silent grave, from whence no traveler can return; a few more days and I go the way of all the earth. (2 Nephi 1:14). Shakespeare was supposedly a Freemason. Who actually wrote Shakespeare’s works is an item of continuing interest! The Book of Mormon focus on Julius Caesar is absolutely intriguing to me!

Are the beliefs of Mormons similar to those of Freemasons?

Don’t ask a Mormon this question because they honestly don’t know. If you ask a Freemason you will get several different answers. The first Masonic answer is always: “We are not a religious organization.” Large portions of Mormon ceremony were directly adopted from Freemasonry including much of their older temple ceremonies. Ceremonies are not necessarily considered religious. The second answer is both have huge Judaic and gnostic beliefs. That makes the two organizations very similar. I would even go so far as to call Mormons direct descendants of York Rite Freemasons of the 1830s.

That brings up an interesting situation. Mitt Romney will become the Republican presidential candidate. It would appear to me that a Republican Freemason would be running against a Democratic Freemason, Barack Obama. I don’t know for sure President Obama has admitted his Masonic ties but he wears a Masonic ring. Many Southern Baptist will see Mitt Romney being a Mason with conflicting feelings. The Southern Baptist Churches are the most adamant religious opponents of Mormonism. However, a 1991 survey by the Southern Baptist Convention Sunday School Board found that 14% of SBC pastors and 18% of SBC deacon board chairs were Masons; it is also estimated that SBC members comprise 37% of total U.S. lodge membership. (A 2000 updated SBC report found that over 1,000 SBC pastors are Masons.)

I have been a Southern Baptist most of my life. I was married to a lovely Mormon lady for 34 years (she died). I have never been a Freemason but there is a long history of Freemasonry in my family. I am ashamed to be a Southern Baptist right now. However, it is uncertain who is at fault here. You can’t blame Freemasonry because they are trying to survive. I believe Southern Baptist are continuing a tradition of bias that has existed since the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) was formed. Most evangelicals are against Romney. LAWRENCE O'DONNELL, MSNBC ANCHOR: Mormonism was created by a guy in upstate New York in 1830 when he got caught having sex with the maid and explained to his wife that God told him to do it. Forty-eight wives later, Joseph Smith's lifestyle was completely sanctified in the religion he invented to go with it. Which Mitt Romney says he believes. Lawrence would never make it as a Mormon historian. Mormonism was organized in 1830 but Fanny Alger didn't appear until 1833. Joseph Smith had 34 wives plus or minus. Get your facts streight or stay at home Lawrence! More Mormon bashing.

The Freemason and Knights Templar link

The Francken Manuscript 1783 was a Freemason document first released to the public in 1999. It looks like a Freemason document. Just who released it is unknown. It is the biggest source, outside of this book linking Freemasons and Knights Templar. Ordo ab Chao: The Original and Complete Rituals, 4th-33rd Degrees of the first Supreme Council, 33rd Degree at Charleston, South Carolina is an identical document. The death of the Knights Templar at the hands of the Roman Catholic Church was the rebirth of Freemasonry. Being “Top Secret” is how Freemasonry survived.
